Bring on 2017

December 27, 2016 Comments Off on Bring on 2017

How in the world is this the last week of 2016?  Better yet, how is it going to be 2017?   When I was younger the years would go by so slow, now they rush on by.  I need longer days not faster years.  Since that won’t be happening, onto 2017.

My oily life

As you know by now, I am an oily lover.  I love that I have omitted a lot of chemicals in our home.  Knock on wood, I love that I haven’t had a bad sinus infection since I started my oily journey.  I love that my husband has jumped on board with this oily life I have created.  If you know my husband, this is HUGE!  Recently he wasn’t feeling the greatest and instead of heading to the store to buy over the counter products he asked what oils he could use.  (insert huge smile)  I reached for my essential oils desk top reference guide and gathered some oils up for him to use.  For the most part he applied them on without me nagging him.  You can say I am passionate about my oily lifestyle.  I would also consider myself a closet oiler.  If you didn’t follow my Essentially Amy Lynn Facebook page, Instagram account, or check in on my blog you may never know I love oils.  I want to change this in 2017.  I didn’t want others to consider me as the weird girl who is into oils.  Now, I am embracing my weirdness and want to share my love of oils.  This will take me out of my comfort zone as I am opening myself and sharing what I have been doing and using.  When you find something that is simply amazing you must share it and not worry what others think.  At least that is what I am telling myself right now.  It’s no secret a few things in my life guided me into researching about oils and then purchasing my own premium starter kit in hopes it would help in different areas of my life.  I have learned so much since I opened up my kit and I am looking forward to learning so much more in 2017!  If you want to learn more about oils, I’m here to help!

Besides sharing more openly about oils I want to continue making my own products.  Soap, bath bombs, and body butter bars are all on the list.  (insert another huge smile)  A few years ago I would have been the person who would purchase whatever product was on sale instead of looking at the ingredients or better yet making my own.  I also would have never guessed I would be saving money by making my own using essential oils than purchasing store bought items.  Hello, cheaper and better for my health…. sign me up!  I am so excited to see where my oily life leads me in 2017.

Fitness Goals

I am sure you have made fitness goals over the goals as the new year starts.  Include me on this list too.  I have a love hate relationship with running.  I love how I feel after I run but, dislike the first mile.  Depending on what state we lived in has depended on what I have trained for.  That being said, I want to run a half marathon this year.  You heard it first, I am going to commit to running 13.1 miles.  A half marathon is the perfect length, not to0 long and not to0 short.  Having a goal will help me log in the miles I need to achieve week after week.

Continuing on my fitness goals I want to continue deepening my positions and flexibility in Pure Barre.  Pure Barre has done wonders on my overall body composition and strength.  It is a workout you cannot force, rather embrace.  I know some of you are shaking your heads knowing I am a Pure Barre instructor however, just because I teach doesn’t mean I am perfect.  Believe it or not, Pure Barre goes hand in hand with running.  When I take class I focus on me and me only.  It’s the only way to push myself to get my thighs to shake and lift my seat.  If you haven’t taken a class maybe 2017 will be the year you head to a Pure Barre studio and take a class and see what the talk is all about for yourself.

Balance is key.  At least that is my opinion.  In order to have balance in my life I need to stay organized and use a planner and commit to accomplishing everything I need to in a day.  This also means eating right, working out, and tending to everyday life things.  Unfortunately, the laundry and grocery shopping doesn’t get done without me.  Having a game plan will help me find balance to get everything done.

When I first thought about blogging I thought I would be able to keep up with it.  Little did I know, it was more challenging to do than what I thought.  In 2017 I want to posting weekly on Essentially Amy Lynn.  I can do this if I find my balance and stick with a plan.  I also know, the more I blog the more I will encourage others to live a happy and healthy life which is key.  Helping others is where my heart is.  The best part about blogging is I can do it no matter where we live.  I want to continue sharing my journey with infertility, oils, and my life.  Keep your eyes open for lots of exciting things to happen in 2017!

This one will most likely be my hardest 2017 goal.  I am going to say good bye to Starbucks.  This excludes any gift cards I receive.  I of course will use these and put them to good use.  I love my local staff at Starbucks however, I also give them way too much of my money.  Saying good bye to Starbucks means more money in our bank and a slimmer waist line for me.  Honestly, I go to Starbucks more for the social part.  Being the new kid on the block Starbucks is a safe place.  You get to know people.  It’s my Cheers.  Everyone knows my name which I like.  Giving up Starbucks will also continue to give me the power to make healthier decisions which is important to me.

And more

I will continue to add onto my  list of things I want to tackle over 2017.  I want to keep an open mind when it comes to ways on having a baby of our own.  Maybe 2017 will be our year we will meet our baby.  Maybe a vacation. If you know my husband and I, this doesn’t happen.

Heading into a new year can be a good thing.  It provides a fresh start.  I am going to make sure I end 2016 on a high note and start 2017 off on the right foot.
