DIY Body Butter Bar

Before I begin, I feel obligated to say I am far from a DIY’er.  Seriously, far from it.  I always bought store products because it was convenient.  As I got older, I changed. Things in my life changed.  If you haven’t read my About Me, make sure you do.

A few weeks ago I made whipped body butter.  It was fast and easy to make.  I used the last of my cream and I needed to come up with something.  Thankfully I had enough ingredients to make whipped body butter.  I am on my second jar since I have made it.  The great thing about this body butter is a little goes a long way.  Down fall, it requires jars or a large jar.  Hence, why I wanted to make a body butter bar.

I found a recipe I wanted to use and ordered the ingredients I didn’t have from Amazon.  Seriously, what did I do prior to Amazon?  Of course when I got the items in I was enjoying using my whipped body butter and didn’t have to make the body butter bars right away.

As it is getting a little warmer here in Texas I knew the consistency of the whipped body butter would start to change.  Keep in mind, we set our air conditioner at 78 so it doesn’t run every minute of the day.  I am sure if you keep it a little lower it would be fine and wouldn’t change.

My husband was going to go out for a long ride so I knew this was my time to make some body butter bars.  I started getting out all the ingredients and realized the only thing I didn’t have was molds.  Instead of using molds I used silicone baking cups.

The recipecalls for a double boiler however, if you don’t have one place a smaller pot or heat proof stainless steal bowl inside the larger pot to create a double boiler.  The hardest part of this recipe for me was grating the cocoa butter.  It smelled amazing as I was grating it though.  Everything after the grating was easy.

They turned out perfect!  I really like the look of using silicone baking cups, enough where I will continue to use them instead of purchasing molds.  I am going to keep them in the refrigerator and pull them out right before I take a shower.  I love the way it feels on my skin.  It’s perfect!  I can’t forget the smell.  It is sweet but not overpowering.  I added my favorite essential oils to create the perfect aroma and I was so right.  It’s perfect!

If you have been wanting to make Body Butter Bars, I suggest using this recipe.  I can’t wait to make more and give them as gifts!
